• The intercom buzzes, hums, or only passes sound one way. This often comes down to a failing capacitor or a cold solder joint on the intercom board, especially on units installed before 2010. Calabasas heat cycles are unkind to aging capacitors.
• You hear a relay click but the gate doesn’t move. The keypad’s relay is firing, but the wire from the keypad to the operator has a break or a corroded splice. We find this most often at the hinge side of the gate where the wire flexes every cycle.
• The display lights up but the keypad forgets codes. That’s the unit’s internal memory battery or the board’s non-volatile memory failing. On older FAAC units this is the sign that the keypad is near the end of its service life.
